Landmark Supplies is offering free hole covers that stop ball from going down into the hole. We are currently using upside down cups recessed into green enough but our head pro does not like this method and ordered these liners from Landmark. I am just curious if anybody out there has used these yet and their thoughts on them. Just because he ordered them does not mean I will use them until I see them and try them. Just looking for a little input.
    Thanks

    Paul,

I am retired so I get to play quite a bit of golf. I have seen noodles cut off to prevent the ball from going very far into the cup (but if the putt is a little too firm it can bounce out). I have also seen 2" PVC cut off and placed in the cup again so the ball will not go very deep into the cup. However the best is what I saw this past Saturday at Goose Pond Plantation Course in Scottsboro, Al. The ball can go all the way down into the cup but to retrieve the ball you lift up a hook attached to the flagstick with the putter head and the ball pops out without have to bend over. It done quickly the ball often goes a couple of feet from the hole so do not have to step so close to the cup. I have included the link below.

    I hope this help you,

David the TPC Network is considering this same device.  How well built do you think this device is?  We are concerned that it could be easily damaged and cause frustration of members and guests.  Be safe.

    Hi Dennis,
I take it you are doing well. I have been enjoying retirement. The Honors Course had hundreds of trees destroyed by a tornado that hit April 12. It will not reopen until May 29 because of the damage. Anyway on to the topic.

I am not sure how much abuse it could take. Probably not much. I would guess it would most likely be damaged by maintenance people not being careful with it. Of course a golfer could get mad and slam it with his putter. It seemed to be attached firmly. We played well after lunch and there had been a lot of play. Still I did not see any issues with them. It sure felt more like I was playing real golf as like I said the other ways I have seen the ball often rimmed out and you were not sure if it would have stayed in a regulation cup or not.

    David
