Wondering what kind of success or failures, such as durability, accuracy, golfer comments, etc., have occurred with various types of reflectors on flagsticks.

Jeffrey, In hindsight I wish we had never started selling the prism reading yardage guns and only sold the more expensive ones that would read off any solid object. We started with the prisms that replaced the nut on top of the flagstick. This worked well for a while but the metal on the threads was not compatible with the metal on the flagstick threads so they would just lock up one day and you couldn't remove the nut to change the flag color. Many vendors offer metals that do not bind so make sure you look for them. The past three years we have had poles with the prisms glued into the middle of the pole. We have had 4 of 27 poles crack and break where the prisms are over the three years but overall this has worked well and we will stay with it.

We tried the prisms on top, but like others have said, they seized on top of the poles. We purchase Par-Aide "Laser-link" poles three years ago and they are still holding up well for us.

The only problem as stated I've experienced with the prisms is them seizing up and can't get them off the top of the stick. Sometimes a pair of pliers/channel locks can get them off, but I've also had them break as well. Usually if they're stuck I just replace the whole flagstick. We us indicator flags on the flag stick, so I luckly don't have to worry about changing the flags all that much besides special member tournaments. Putting anti-seize I've found helps with this some.

We solved the problem of prisms sticking to the stick by having a whole other stick with a flag on it. The changer just carries that flag to the first green, installs it, then the flag that was one it goes to the next green.

We have since changed to the sticks with the built in prism.
