    Hi all,

We are making a trip to WGI winter percussion championships in Dayton OH April 19th - 21.

While looking for hotel rooms, can anybody give some advice on what areas to avoid? We're hoping to avoid the crack houses and other undesirable areas.

Follow Freedom Percussion Independent Open Class.

    Thanks!

    Clay,
Just quoting what my wife said while we were looking up hotels last night.

This is the first time we are heading out kind of on our own, we're used to traveling and chaperoning with our son's high school, they've got a spot they have been using probably for at least 10+ years for both winter guard and percussion. (It was sold out....)

This is an independent group of mostly college age students, they will be in Troy the first day, Wright State for semi's and hopefully Dayton Arena for finals.

I think we are going to settle in around Wright-Patterson AFB area. And we are hoping to squeeze in a trip to see Fiona the Hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo, her dad was from our zoo here in Springfield.

    Thanks!

    Mel,

I'm just funnin' ya. I had visions of Dayton having declared itself a crackhouse and undesirable sanctuary city.

It's been years since my last visit to Dayton but I'm sure there are plenty of crack free zones in the area. Enjoy!

    Melvin,
There are several hotels along Colonel Glenn Hwy near Wright State University. Also Across highway 675 in Beavercreek there are a couple nice hotels along Pentagon Blvd. Both of these areas are close to Interstate 70 and 75. You can get around the Dayton area fairly quickly from these hotels.

Oh i know, when I looked back on it, I thought it was funny too. I always remember that ride on 75 through Dayton and wondering if they were ever going to finish the highway construction.
