Has anyone did a head only replacement lately and what was the cost. Our irrigation system is 22 years old. Pipe  and wire are still good but can not get parts for Toro 750's and 780's anymore.

    Hi Daniel,

We are replacing about 8 Rain Bird DR 51's a year with 900 heads around our greens a year, we take the 51's for replacing other 51's elsewhere on the course.  The 900's are running close to $300 per head, but we take advantage of the buy 3 get one free deals they tend to run in the summer.

We have also sent our 51 DR's to Sportsturf irrigation for repairs.  They repair Toro heads and also sell refurbished heads cheaper then new.  We have bought some refurbished 950-part circle heads for tee areas, to replace 95 DR's.  I like using brand new heads around greens when we replace them, but other areas I'm not as particular, will upgrade nozzles and I'm good to go.

1992 Toro system.  A few dozen a year replaced over the last 10 years or so.  All FWs converted to Toro 850s.  Most greens to 830s.  A lot if tees from full circle to half circle.
