Hey Everyone,
My apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum category. I didn't see the better fit.
This year I decided to build a handful of benches from scratch using wood from trees that we've removed in the past. One of my team members has a side business and a personal saw mill. 2" thick planks were cut and dried. The bark edge was scraped off but the character remains.
I want to seal or waterproof these benches to withstand the elements. They are oak and I'd like the wood to remain natural looking while having the grain 'pop'.
At this point we only intend on utilizing these benches for isolated outdoor Club events as these benches do not match the current decor. That said, Clubhouse staff are hinting at staging these benches in outdoor locations full time. Therefore, I should plan for it. For my Par Aide benches on the golf course, I seal the wood boards with Cetol. It does a great job but is expensive. We plan on testing the Cetol on a scrap piece from the project to see if I like it.
Wondering if anyone has done a similar project or have greater wood project knowledge than I do, would be willing to share products or recommendations?
Thank in advance
