    Greetings;

You guys are getting soft or you just don't give a damn any more.

OK ! OK! I know we have a first amendment and I realize many of our military personnel gave their lives so this guy Colin Kaepernick can sit down during The National Anthem being played at the football game. And, wear stockings that degrade police and saying the police get time off and continue to get paid while he/she gets investigated for killing a black man.

I also realize except for the New England States, Tom Brady and the Patriots are not well liked. And, this Saturday, September 3 , Brady cannot go in the stadium or touch a football until October 1.

Too bad the NFL protects wife, girl friend beaters and people who dislike cops. Maybe we won't have the Anthem any longer at sporting events. Maybe the fans somehow could stop going to games and also TV not carrying the games any more.

    c. k. is free to stand, sit, or lie down during the national anthem. And the rest of us are free to heckle him - especially for that gawd awful hairdo.

    1. The owner(s) should ban him from the stadium as a player.
    2. The owner(s) should buy out the guaranteed part of contract.
    3. The owner(s) should make up a tee shirt "49'ers, solid as a rock" and offer it to all of american to pay off the buy out.
I would buy one in a instant and I follow the Chiefs.

They should but they can't. It is a violation of his rights. Now I am former military. SO sitting down during the Anthem makes me more mad than most anything else. Just because it is his right doesn't mean he HAS to do it. I have rights to do a lot of things but I choose to do it.

I would've suggested everyone to ban 49er's games. However I see sales of his jersey are sky rocketing. That's says something about this country. We are in trouble.

I pray with my Republican heart they are buying the jerseys to burn on you-tube. Too many people would rather be the problem than to be a solution!

    Republicans have hearts?
If he has the right to do it, then he can do it. Freedom of speech and all that stuff. I wouldn't like it either but he is the only one it will hurt

It will be interesting to see if c.k. sits or kneels this Sunday, September 11. c. k. is already being lambasted for his misguided sudo tantrum although there is a minority that supports him. He will lose a good chunk of that support if he shows a lack of respect on this anniversary. He should stay in the locker room until after the anthem.

Clay, that makes the most sense of any of the comments

Just to throw another monkey wrench into the conversation...what about the hundreds (or thousands) of people at sporting events who don't stand up, don't take off their hats, carry on conversations, or walk around the concourses when the anthem is played? Are they any less disrespectful? Have you ever said anything to them? My view is they do that out of apathy and rudeness. At least CK, whether you agree with his method or not (I don't) is doing it for a reason.

My view is that he is another example of our youth in today's world that is misguided, seeking attention. I particularly don't appreciate him wearing socks demeaning our police but that is the freedom provided to him as an American citizen so who am I to judge.

Having said that when President Obama got involved it is he who missed a golden opportunity to display his leadership by saying anyone black or white living in our free society can aspire and succeed in fulfilling their dreams by obtaining the office of President.

As the young quarterback matures he hopefully will be regretful of his stance or sit to Old Glory.

I was on vacation the first week and I think that was all we watched. Glad to know I passed the Patriotic Litmus test.

How much rain did you guys get last week? 5.5" here.

Two entirely different examples. Kaepernick is representing a team, a city, a professional organization, all eyes are on that person, all cameras are on that person, and on and on. Joe Shmoe in the stands represents none of the above and is irrelevant.

We got .8 inches last night. Pretty much the sum total for June July and August.
Never been so happy to see the bunkers washed

Joe Shmoe is not irrelevant he is just as disrespectful as CK, and yes I have said something to those types of people when I see it. When ever I am out somewhere and the National Anthem is played after it is finished if I can pin point the offenders I will say something.

I should have provided clarity. The average Joe is not relevant in terms of respect for the anthem, however, Joe Shmoe is irrelevant to the cameras, the national spotlight, representing the city, representing the league... Still distinctly different.

I would love to know if Colin was picked on by the cops while growing up? All I knew was that he was a heck of a ballplayer out of Reno. Had no clue what his race or combination of races may have been. I never gave it a second thought. Certainly didn't know he was part black until he made a big deal out of it and again, I didn't care what his background was. Why can't guys like Colin, who have been blessed with talent, get a free college education, become mentors to young minorities and teach them how to achieve and stay out of trouble with the law? I think that would be a far more positive way to bring awareness to what is perceived as injustice. Teach young people how to succeed and be model citizens. Just might be more productive than pointing out how bad cops treat minorities.

I agree with all that you said, but there are some issues even for model black citizens such as Republican Senator from South Carolina Tim Scott http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/t ... ate-225507
but there is no race problem. Rush says so.

Mel, I know we still have racism but my fear is is flipping the other way right now. Seems like lots of hate in the black communities for all whites rather they have ever caused a problem or not. People today that are white and racist are definitely in the minority. I have always said I am only prejudice to a couple of groups and color has nothing to do with it. I really dislike truly stupid people and a racist would fall under that category and I also truly dislike stupid people who are rude or cruel to others. Respect each other and benefit from the good in all people and life would be pretty easy. I am not color sensitive to my admitted prejudice since stupid people who are truly offensive by their actions or hate come in all colors, creeds etc. I just don't allow the stupids into my life. I will be polite and then have nothing to do with them.
