While it was too close for my comfort, and Auburn played spirited and had the chance to win, I'm glad my Seminoles won.

As to the continued debate on conferences, while the SEC might have a good conference and some solid teams, I think a good team is a good team, no matter the conference. Look at the BCS games alone. The SEC didn't win any, but Auburn did play great. Some of the other big non BCS games had teams like Missouri and South Carolina represent the SEC well. Even though Big 10 Ohio State lost to Clemson, (another ACC team), they did represent themselves well against a strong Pac 12 (is that your guy's number now) team. The Big 12 with Oklahoma represented their conference well beating Alabama, yet Big 12 (is it still that with what only 9 teams or something?) Baylor got beat by Central Florida of the whatever it's called conference now.

Just wonder how much the playoff will solve next year, it would have probably been Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, and Stanford? Why should have Oklahoma and Mich. State been left out with their convincing wins? Maybe the playoff should be 8 teams. Just my opinion.

Congrats Mel, it was a great game. FSU had a fantastic team this year. I think the SEC still had the strongest bowl record at 7-3 or something like that even though they lost in the BCS bowls, so that speaks to their depth. Not sure the future playoff solves anything. People whine about the BCS but honestly I don't think it has ever got it wrong- there has been a deserving champion every year. I think it is actually going to be much harder to pick 4 teams rather than just 2.

I was able to just enjoy the game because I didn't have a favorite. I was a little surprised that FS was able to handle Auburn's running game so well. Auburn had yards but really only about three runs of any real distance. The big FS QB didn't look like the hype he received last night, but still pretty darn well, especially for a freshman. Great end to a college football season.

    Sandy,

I thought because of the speed of FSU's defense they could handle the running game, although it was a good thing they had some depth, I think it was Jergenson was gassed in that fourth quarter. Watching the SEC Championship, Missouri only tried to stop the run for a short time and succeded, then stopped doing it, don't know why.

I know FSU has always been hurt across the middle passing wise, Miami Tight Ends used to make big plays back when they were good. What bothered me early was the lack of communication picking those recievers up and giving up those easy deep pass plays. They made some good adjustments.

I know Jamies didn't look as sharp, Auburn had some good defensive linemen, and was rotating keeping guys fresh, also the shifts right before the ball was snapped through off the offensive line. Going back to short quick routes and them not giving up on the run did help.

I think the call that turned the game was the fake punt....Now that was some Bowden ball there, reminds me of the good old days, which I hope have now returned.

    Mel,

Congrats on the win. Saw most of the game and it was pretty good and a lot more competitive than a lot of folks thought it would be. Also glad that my Spartans took out Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Based upon how many of the teams finished this year and some of the players coming back next year I think 2014 is going to be a great year in college football.

The system will still be flawed until the NCAA forms 8 major conferences, there are currently 9, and the regular season winner of each then plays in an 8 team playoff bracket. The 4 major bowls could then revert to their traditional round one games, Big 10 v Pac 12 in the Rose, etc. Next year will be no different than the BCS as the 4 playoff spots will still be awarded by polls, just one extra game for two of the teams.
