At long last – Cubs win world series in remarkable Cubs fashion. Indians comeback, rain-delay, Pitcher Go-Round, tenth inning, Bill Murray crying on the field. YOU CAN MAKE THIS STUFF UP! "Wait til next year"

Hi Mike, I hope you're doing well.

While watching game 7 I told my wife that if I owned the Cubs when Maddon pulled Hendricks with two out and a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth I would have walked down to the dugout and fired him on the spot. Kind of like when a player gets traded in the middle of an at-bat on the trading deadline day. "Sorry man. We don't need you anymore. Leave your hat on the bench. See ya."

The Cubs certainly didn't win the game because of his decisions. They won despite him. I didn't have a favorite in the series, but when he made that move I told myself I hope they lose due to that decision. They almost did, and probably should have.

I'd still fire him now, even though they won.

I told my wife watching Madden handle that bullpen that I would never criticize Ned Yost's handling of the Royals bullpen ever again.

Why do these managers feel such a terrible need to over manage? Using your closer in the 6th game with a good lead? Cubs did win in spite of their manager. I didn't really have a favorite with these 2 teams but sort of found myself pulling for the Cubs purely because it has been so long. Good for them.

Elimination games are very different than a typical baseball game. I think Maddon was smart to recognize that and not be stuck in managing by the book. Mel will like this, i heard a radio show say that Maddon was using the Kansas City bullpen method.

I am happy for the Cubs fans out there. My son told me yesterday that the Parade on Friday was #7 in the all-time http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/11/05/cubs-parade-draws-seventh-biggest-crowd-in-history/ That seems hard to believe since the population of Chicago is only 2.8 million. I never saw a "bandwagon" as big as the Cubs.

Anyway the Hot Stove heats up this week, and with my White Sox it's wait until next year.
