   I am having problems with 3M brand direct burial splice kits on my 2 wire system. Does anyone know where I can purchase an empty tube (no grease) and add my own gel/grease? I know in the 80's they sold them empty and let you add epoxy if desired.

   You can buy dielectric gel from an electrical or auto supply store. Usually comes in tubes of about 3 ozs for around $6-8. Use a traditional DBY, then top it off with the dielectric gel if you feel it's not enough.
