Our Salsco HP11-111 has a 13HP honda engine GX390, the engine is failing, the compression release and cam are worn.  anyone know where i can get parts, or another engine brand that will fit the hydro shaft?

Update....Harbor Freight sells Predator engines, we bought a 13HP direct replacement for the Honda motor that failed. Bolts right in. The only modifications we had to do was where the valve cover meets the seat housing. $3,000.00 for Honda unknown when it will come, $450.00 for Predator. 90 day warranty, i purchased the full year.

Thanks for this.  Just saw it.  How much modification to the engine compartment did you have to make?  Bend? Cut?  Text me a picture?  Output shaft lined up OK?

While I know we have a need for these roller I strongly believe these engines are not up to the task of the constant back and forth hydro system. it seems like its hard for them to govern themselves properly. I just went from a salsco to an Agri-Metal 666 and love the roller but even its engine has some slight issues new. I can see this getting worse as it get broke in.

Let me know how that predator fits will you.

This is the only modification. Everything else bolts right up. The problem we have already is the charging coil on the engine quit. We are starting it with the recoil starter and it’s working great. The engine is under warranty so we will be taking it back for a new one.  Well I can’t post a pic from my phone. I send it when I get back to the office

We have the engine but as it arrived about noon Friday and I wanted to let the guys go early and get a start on their weekend we haven't installed it yet.

After ordering I did a search to see where these engines are made.  A blogger wrote that they are made in China and are Honda clones.  He also wrote that the engines appear to be good for about 300 hours.  For us that is about 1 season worth of operation.  3 days per week, +/- 10 hours per week, and about a 30 week season. But, as the Honda that came on the roller is dead, and parts would cost over $200 and not guarantee the engine would work properly or last, and a new Honda not available until June 2023, at least we can get the roller back out soon.

Yes that’s why I bought the year warranty too. Ours will be going back for a replacement but the roller is operated every day now.

Thanks Charles.  Tech got the engine installed this morning.  Quick and easy.  Fit like a glove with no modification and started right up.  Back to rolling tomorrow.

How good is your Spanish?  Not sure how much help he could be as he isn't a pro golf course equipment tech, but he had experience fixing things back home.  Promoted him from the crew when our tech quit a few years ago.  He still prefers being outside so he has a morning job outside and his second jobs are mostly in the shop.  I taught him everything he knows about the nuances of golf equipment, except grinding.  I do all of that.

I have to order all parts too because he can't even read in Spanish and he won't even look at the pictures and numbers and have a list ready for me to order.  He shows me the bad part then I have to look it up and order it.

I have a 2018 11-111 with to date has 1226.8 hours on the engine. never had an issue ever. Keeping brushes working is another story. Always had good luck with Honda engines.

Ours is a 2014 and came with brushes.  We gave up on those after a season of frustration.  The roller itself is still doing great.  A few bearing changes, chain/sprocket sets, and regular hydraulic hose replacements.  As long as we can keep an engine in it, it should be good for many more years.
