We are looking to streamline, and standardize our golf course maintenance safety program. Currently, we are using safety documents from OSHA and various other sources. I know that some companies have implemented great safety programs that are often put together by their insurance carriers. With that said, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share what they are currently using. Safety is of the utmost importance in our business, and we just want to make sure that we are not missing anything. Thanks in advance if you are able to help!

hey guys I am looking to update our safety program. I am in my first year as super and the safety program that we currently have is pretty non existent. any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I really don't know where to start to but one in place. I would really like to have a simple one but one the will be acceptable if anything bad every did happen.

    thanks again

    Josh,

We have a simple one supplemented with videos from Epic Creative Superintendnet's Video Workshop. We go over the attached document and watch the safety basics on the golf course with each new employee before they hit the golf course.

Then on one rain or frost mornings the entire staff will watch the video and discuss the handout as a refresher. I will have a sign up sheet so it is recorded. We will also go over our MS4 stormwater runoff plan for reducing suspended solids at the same time so that training is recorded.

First of all, kudos to you Josh, David, and Robert for your interest in your crews safety.

Second, shame on me! As a 30 year GCSAA member who was on the Information Services committee 20 years ago (with Rich Lavine BTW) when this website was first being developed, and who now makes his living providing safety training, there is no excuse for it taking me 7 months to see and reply to this post.

Third, thank you Rich and Robert for the reference.

And finally, Josh, if you're still looking for a safety training program please contact me mccordgolf@gmail.com
