Hello, 9 hole muni course here jointly owned by a city and a park district. City controls the administrative duties. The finance director orders me to lay off my $11.00/hr assistant from Jan 1 to March 1 because he the employee wages are "killing him" "bleeding him dry" and yet the pro shop has a GM, assistant GM, AND pays a cashier to answer a phone or just sit very very bored. Anything wrong with this picture?

Higher end daily fee in central IN.

Pro shop operates with pro/gm/dog and assistant (2 people) from Nov or so until late March or so. They bring in an extra or two on rare warm busy days to help with snack bar and carts/pick range. We are open all winter with play when possible.

Grounds has me, assistant, equip tech, and 1 full timer. We bring in a seasonal or two or three to help with projects when conditions allow.

    Hey Doug.

    Near Omaha here.
2 city owned municipal golf courses - 1 course is 18 holes only and the other is 18 holes with driving range and 3 hole academy course
Open year round weather permitting. ugh!
daily fee but we do have 100+ season pass holders
80+ outings at each per year - 2-3 leagues off of each 9 each evening starting about 4:00pm m-f
SR. morning leagues at one on Mondays and Thursdays starting at 7:30 (80 players - tee times) - a few other morning leagues but small.

Normal season would be considered Mar 1 - Dec 1 with some play outside these dates of at times.
40,000-45,000 rounds at each per season.

Operation ran as a proprietary fund so money in has to be greater than money out.

Maintenance staff has a super(exempt) and assistant(hourly) year round for each golf course and 1 mechanic that works both golf courses and is year round as well. Mechanic is limited to mainly 40 hour per week with occasional OT. Supers work 90-110 hours as the job requires per 2 week pay period (12days on 2 days off during season(Mar 1 - Dec 1) and then 64-80 hours during the winter months depending on what is going on) - assistants work 80-90 hours depending on time of year(80 hours for the two week pay period in the winter and then close to 90 hours during the season(12days on 2 days off - April 1 - Dec 1). Assistants are paid OT.

The clubhouse staff has the GM(formerly the director of clubhouse operations) and 3 golf pros that are year round. Maintenance works under the GM now which started in May of 2017. I could not tell you the exact hours the clubhouse staff works during the season or off season.

If open in the winter additional staff can be called in as needed.
We have on occasion had to let staff go but have always tried to keep the core of our staff together.
Don't really know your situation but this is how we staff.

    Hope this helps some
