I'm trying to convince my board to raise some of the rates we charge for golf here and was wondering if some of you could give me information on the matter.
Currently our rates are as follows
    regular membership 600.00
    senior membership 550.00
weekday green fee and cart 28.00
weekend green fee and cart 30.00
we also have 154 cart sheds we rent annually for 450.00
There are 2 other courses in town 1 private and the other semi with the population of the town at 65 to 70 thousand
Based on the rates I've found from those 2 green fees and cart are at their price point through the week but light on the weekend and I'm more than half less than them for memberships.
Just wanting some feed back from different areas and if you are in Texas that will be even better.
    Thanks everyone in advance

    Kevin,

Countless chapters and articles are available on golf course pricing and there are many factors that go into pricing of green fees and carts. For our course we look at our how much revenue we need / want and then figure out who is going to pay for it or what we are going to cut if we cannot raise that revenue.

I am pretty far from Texas but your prices seem like a hell of a deal.

For member golf and carts we divide the number of rounds played or carts used by members by the income received to get a average[u"> income per member round [/u">to show the board members in comparison to the income for a green fee round. Then they can decide if more income should be obtained from the members or the public or both.

The best way to increase revenue is more rounds at the rack rate but for an established course that is tough to do overnight. Good luck.

    David,
Thanks and that's where one of my problems lie. I was hired as the superintendent and 2 months later they're terminating the manager and having me do both. Well the old regime did everything by hand without a point of sale system hence there is no history of hard numbers of member or outside play to justify anything. All they know is that the golf course is in the best shape it's seen in 30 years but with the lack of interest they had shown in the past for maintenance has hurt the outside rounds. Revenue down but coming back slowly as the word gets out, but I still had to cut another 30% out of labor to try to get to spring. As for the deal they have here, I have guys play 5 times a week 45 weeks a year and others that tell me they play at least 140 times a year. Right now I have 5 men in maintenance and 4 people counting myself trying to run the pro-shop and cart barn with no overtime so me being salary putting in way to many hours on a wonderful 27 hole facility.

I'm in rural West Tennessee,we are a public course that offers "memberships",we are the only course in a county of 35k, and have only 4 courses within 30 miles of me, just as a point of reference. Your green fees are right in line with what we charge but our annual memberships are nearly double. We only have cart storage for 30 and it runs them $250/year plus $50 electric surcharge if they need it.

The biggest issue we have is calculating rounds played:
Our gold card members pay for a yearly cart fee in their dues and since they have to come in the pro shop and get a key we could keep some sort of tally of visits but not holes played.
Our members who own their own carts however do not even bother to come through the pro shop most days so we have no idea how many holes played they are contributing.
Being an old, established course that once was a country club it would be like pulling teeth to require our patrons to sign in or anything prior to playing, so I can point to a pretty firm number on outside green fees and rounds played from them but actual rounds would be impossible.
