Is there a specific app or is it in the software why I can not watch a webcast on an iPad? Thanks

    Tim,

Make sure the Java app for Mac is updated on your Ipad. If you are logging in and it says "launch successful" and you are not viewing the meeting I'd start there.

Thanks for posting your question, Tim.

If you are joining one of the live webcasts that are offered by GCSAA education (or an Industry partner from our web site) the software used is GoToWebinar from Citrix. They have a free app you can use to join on your iPad or phone. You can read more details about use on their web site here:

    http://support.citrixonline.com/GoToMeeting/ and search for iPad

I know there have been a couple of members use the app to attend our Today's Turf is…. Series and it has worked well, overall.

The webcasts that we have recorded in the On Demand library have been created over time and have been done with various software. We started using GoToWebinar in Sept. of 2012 so you should be able to open those recordings using Mac products. Before that we used a Microsoft product which didn't work well with anything "i".

I installed gotomeeting on the iPad but it isn't an "open with" option for the webcasts on demand.

I had to cancel my trip to the GIS so I thought I would make up for the lost education time by viewing webcasts. However, every time I click the register button of any topic I am redirected to a blank gray screen. Any suggestions?

    Clay,

How long did you stare at the screen? I found that if you stare for about five to ten minutes for each screen, then eventually the page will turn. I have not yet been able to connect to a webinar though. I have hopes that by the end of the day it will connect. But I cringe out how long a one hour webinar will take.

Since I can't travel to the show either, and since GCSAA will not honor the TurfNet webinars anymore, I am resigned to using the GCSAA site. I'm thinking of just submit the points just based on the effort to get to the final sign on page.

    Good luck

I have enjoyed a good many of the webinars and have not encountered any difficulty. Contact Lisa Wick (lwick@gcsaa.org) at GCSAA and she will be able to assist. She is great to work with.

    John,

I have participated in a number of webinars and webcasts in the past. Some were slow to load but I never ran into this issue. Hence my post. On the Feedback & Help page. So I don't have to make a call. Yeah.

But John, you are right, Lisa is a fabulous person. Two great big thumbs up for Lisa.

Have you tried logging onto a webinar lately? Or even trying to load a page on the main site? I'm just curious because it has become so slow it is almost not feasible to use the site anymore.

It has become much slower. An obvious result of climate change.

True. I've seen glaciers melt at a faster pace.

    Ron,
It is not true that GCSAA will not honor the Turfnet webinars. GCSAA raised the price to accredit the webinars, and Turfnet made the decision to not pre-certify the webinars. We however can still apply for credit. Check out the rules for getting credit for these, just as you would for a local seminar or other external education. I'm sure Lisa Wick can guide you through this.

Tried again today. Same issues. Any GCSAA insiders care to offer some insight?

I talked to Aaron the I.T. guy at GCSAA last week. They are having problems with viewing the GCSAAtv too. I'm able to view archived webinars, eventually, by following the link provided after ordering the webinar and then instead of trying to watch it through the GCSAAtv I select the "download video"option and it seems to work fine. I found a few archived events that do not offer that option though so s.o.l. on those.

He also said they were working on the glacial pace of the main GCSAA website. I haven't tried to log on there yet today so I'm not sure if anything has improved.

I don't know if this is the same issue you are having or not.

Edit: Just checked the main website. It's flying now so that's a plus.

I think the pace of the website was related to remote headquarters at GIS however I don't recall any notice that they were going remote with the server....like every other year

Logged on again today and success. Fifth time is a charm. The registration process is still slow but I did break through this time. Next test, accessing the webcast.
