This is not your typical divot repair question, in my opinion. As you all know, there is a reason to replace the divot or fill the divots with sand/mix on the course.

My question pertains to the best way to accomplish the task on tees and the driving range, where there are more divots per square foot. Do you have someone out there filling each divot by hand or by shovel and the leveling gizmo?

Does anyone use the topdressing spreader, used on greens etc..?

If the range is really beat up, perhaps a shovel is best to make sure enough sand is applied to adequately fill the divot. Besides that, sand is applied where needed.

However, a few passers with the topdressing spreader might work just as well, provide needed sand where there isn't a divot and overall be less labor intensive.

What are your thoughts on the subject? Thanks for any responses.

As far as the tees are concerned, we fill divots daily.  I have the labor for this task and it looks
    finished.

We fill our divots twice a week on the DR tee. We use 80/20, seed and Milorganite in our carts, spread it with shovels and follow up with a Level Lawn rake.   There are factors on the DR tee you cannot control, the weather and the amount of use the tee gets.   Seed germinates at its own pace and then it has to fill in.  It takes awhile to actually cover up a divot. But, a members perception of a filled divot is that the tee is being maintained and the staff is looking after details.  Whether you hand fill or use a topdresser its time consuming.   Another option is to strip and sod.
