I'm in SW Missouri and I am seeing a lot more poa in our dormant bermuda fairways already this time of year.  Usually we stay clean until March.

I have a theory and am just wondering if anyone thinks it is valid and if my possible solution moving forward will work.

Issue one, we had 8 + inches of rain in October.  That pushed our Indaziflam application into November. which we applied on November 8th at 10 oz per acre.  (we have made to app before that late and had not seen issues).

Issue two, December had average low temperatures over 12° above normal, and had average high temperatures almost 15° above normal.  I am thinking this is the cause of most of my problem, and I am wondering if others might be seeing the issue as well in areas that had way above normal temperatures.

My solution, (and I didn't come up with this, I saw it on Twitter) is to make a Prodiamine application in early September, and then come in and make the Indaziflam application beginning of November, but going at a lighter rate, say 4-6 oz.(6 is the label rate for single application, 3-9 is for spilt applications 3.5 to 4 is multiple rate application).  I know 4 is a popular rate, I figure I can go with a generic Prodiamine which is very cheap per acre, and with the lower rate of Indaziflam, I could get better results for less cost per acre.

    Thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mel

Can use use "simazine"? If not, Glyphosate @ 2qt's/acre? I know pesticides are getting ridiculously expensive.

I would have to look to see if it is available up here.  I don't hear much about anyone using it in our area.

    Thanks,

    Mel,

I had a lot of luck with simazine back in Little Rock and Ga. Do your normal app, then if you start seeing break through, follow up with simazine. It is a preemergent but will knock back young poa.  It will move. and it will damage cool season turf, so be careful around greens, especially above greens.
Sorry for the late reply, not on these forums much anymore, kinda miss the old days.

    Jason

Jason I too miss those old days when we had only a few threads to post on. but we had a lot of posters then.

Also if your completely dormant you can use Roundup to knock out the poa.
