Hi all two questions, especially for those in the transition zone. I am looking to spot apply Ronstar or Oxadiazon to some fairways that have high goosegrass populations.

My quick math tells me that if I choose the 1.85 oz rate it would cost me $103.13 per acre, and get about 4 acres out of a 2.5 gallon jug.

If I choose the 2.8 oz rate, it would cost me $157.47 per acre and I would get just over 2.5 acres per 2.5 gal container. $158.6 per acre.

Question is, is it possible to achieve control at the 1.85 oz per acre? I will also be spraying a Barricaid application (timing wise more for crab, and we also have a Fertilizer with Barricaid application scheduled this year, but timed earlier than the past hopefully, as I have been wondering if I have been missing some of the window for control).

Anybody know which pre-emergent clings to the soil better?

We occasionally have these types of gully washers. Picture is showing water coming down our 9th fairway after 1.75" of rain in an hour.

    Thanks,

How green are you? I'd be cautious spraying Ronstar on green turf. Better to look at the 2G, IMHO.

Right now the only green we have is poa. Is that green you worry about in the Bermuda or zoysia?

That might be why everyone around here goes mostly with Barricaid? I do hear of some people using Ronstar early.

I am also thinking about putting some Goose/Crab on my worse green in the spring and running a trial on my practice green. Bent grass, Some of the bent might be green by then? I remember doing that either my first or second year here, we had a USGA visit, and the agronomist told me I was brave, because if we made an application mistake in the transition area it would be around all season. so I have avoided it since.

I have to wonder when it comes to my greens where we have been using different formulations of dithiopyr, could I be putting it out too early, we will see goose in fairways, tees, and warm season collars much earlier than the greens, or it could be the later timing of the split applications on greens holding off the goose?

It is so frustrating as I try to figure out the answer, as the more I dig into my past records, the more questions I have.

    Thanks!

I have used ronstar for years, on all types of grass. I suggest staying away from liquid. Ronstar G is good but too small for large areas. Try Ronstar on fertilizer.

2.5 G per 35GPA H20 has worked for our celebration mudagrass fairways. Before we got smart and started using Specticle.
