I have some green kyllinga on one of my collars. The patches are large and we pulled some of it out and there is no turf left in those areas. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to control/prevent this stuff. This is the first year that I've had this weed. The collars are bermuda grass located in SE Missouri. I also have one green with some in it and plan to pluck those areas. The greens are mini verde bermuda.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

Monument works wonders but moves (and tracks) not good close to bent greens. Usually I can remove a high percentage of kyllinga in a single mid-rate application. More stubborn plants may require a second app or will get the following year. Dismiss is safer close to the bent but less effective. Dismiss takes repeat applications repeat years.

I agree with Kieth about the Monument. It works great at the .33 oz/A rate for me. I also have had kylinga on my greens. I tried several products and finally found that Sedgehammer would work on our greens. We have 328 bermuda though. Not sure about the ultradwarfs. I plugged the kylinga out and sprayed on nursery green to try different products.

Agreed with Keith and Sam. We sprayed out collars 2 weeks ago and after the 5th day, started to see the plant yellow. It is now gone.

Certainty works well also. Spray my greens (Champion Bermuda) and collars (419 bermuda) with it every spring.

I am looking for advice on controlling green kyllinga in my meyer zoysia fairways and tees. I am located in the transition zone and I do have fescue rough surrounding my fairways and tees. We have used sedgehammer to suppress it but that only last so long. I am curious to read if anyone has had success controlling the weed and if there are pre-e that will prevent it. I am trying to find something that will not give us unacceptable bronzing for a 2-3 week period.

Dismiss works well. If you are worried about Fescue roughs could go at cool season rate monthly. Specticle is good pre, but for rates necessary on sedges and kyllinga, could have issues in your Fescue. Monument is fantastic on Kyllinga, but again use caution around your Fescue. Both Specticle and Monument can move on you.

We've been successful with Echelon at 18 oz/Acre in late April/early May. This year we had to wait until late May due to the rains that lasted for a solid month. We like to wait until the first signs of Kyllinga appear to spray. That rate = 6 oz/Acre of Dismiss and it makes the zoysia look bad for a week. Dismiss at 4 oz/A would probably be my choice if I were spraying now. We have Meyer Zoysia with Fescue surrounds. Monument has worked, but with lots of risk if rain falls anywhere within a week of the application.
