So it seems like this subject was discussed last in April 2018 (from my search)

Well it seems like now my club would like me to get rid of the goosegrass which is pretty mature now. we had no funds to pre-emerge them this last spring so you can imagine the amount and size of what we are now looking at.

Any recommendations from out there? I am looking at Revolver but thinking it will be a waste of money at this time. I know it will take at least two applications at the high rate.

Will Ronstar even work if its mature?

Ronstar will not work as it is only a preemerge. If you happened to have some Illoxan (Diclofop) it is really good at killing Goosegrass even if pretty big. They took it off the market a few years ago I think because the cost to go through re-registration was too expensive considering they did not sell that much of it. I used it on a local high school football field years ago after they had sprigged bermuda. The Goosegrass came up so thick it looked like they seeded it. The Illoxan did a great job. I think the rate was 1 oz./1,000. It was also sold as Hoelon on the Ag market I believe.

Thanks, sorry but I do not have any Illoxin left. I too used it up years ago.

Is Illoxan safe to use on a Tif Eagle green?

If you're really brave, you can use Metribuzin @ 6 oz./acre watered in immediately.  I've done it before with great results on Champion.  I even tried some test spots on my nursery green @ 12 oz./acre with some leftover spray I was doing fwys/roughs with and had very little, if any, burn.  It will possible make you lose a little sleep doing this method, but I've seen it work and it's cheap.  I had to come up with alternative after Illoxan left the market and Revolver stopped working.  Remember......WATER IN IMMEDIATELY!!!  LOL  Try it out in some spots if you're tentative.  I was turned on to this by some other Superintendents a couple years ago.  #industryleaders

Thanks,  I have a couple of gallons of Illoxan left so I may try that route.

I have had success with the following sprays for Goose in Mini-Verde and Tif-Dwarf greens/collars, but no experience with Tif-Eagle .

    1. Revolver @ 17ozs/a
        Persist Ultra (MSO) @ 16 ozs/a
        Amm. Sulfate @ 5#/a

Do not Irrigate immediately following application

    2.  Metricor @ 4ozs/a

Irrigate 2 rotations immediately following application

I'd recommend only hanging a boom over an inconspicuous area of a green for the Metricor test to see what it does to the Tif-Eagle. The revolver mix should be safe but will definitely require multiple applications to knock out the larger more mature plants.

Are you giving these as different types of applications or are you saying to treat with both at different times?

    Two different options.

Revolver is the expensive, .but if you can afford multiple apps I would suggest going that route. In my experience I've been able to knock out the smaller plants in 2 apps 14 days apart, and the larger plants (Usually in the collar) with a third application with zero off-coloring to anything besides the goose-grass plants themselves.

The Metricor route would save you money but it depends on the level of acceptability your club has for herbicide treatment on greens. The watering in helps but you will still see some off-coloring of the Bermuda.

Reminder I have no idea if this will be your experience on Tif-eagle as I've never tried it. I'm just sharing my experience with Tif-Dwarf and Mini-Verde but I imagine it will be similar. I'd still hang a boom over an inconspicuous area first to be sure you're okay with it.

Just wait until it takes 4-6 apps w/ Revolver to do the same thing.  Revolver stopped working for me years ago.

I suggest like others, you do a test spot with Metribuzin and decide yourself.  You could always spot spray it and water in if your issues doesn't warrant broadcast application, or just do selective broadcast apps.

Well I am at my new course now and walked into the same issue as my last. Greens infested with Goosegrass, but I have a budget at this course. I have just sprayed my third application of revolver and dismiss. It really seems to knock it out to an extent. not sure that it stays out though. I was just hoping for about 50% knockout of the goose so we will see. it nothing else it has kept the goose leaves down where were not just cutting them anymore.
