Just a question for the masses? Are we locked into this rotation of Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego forever? I'm wondering why we don't utilize other cities to see something new or maybe stimulate more interest and participation by trying a new city that many of us have never been to? Why don't we use Phoenix, Chicago, Seattle, Denver or even back to Vegas. I'd love to see it in NYC at the Jacob Javits Center but I realize that would be expensive and a tall order. For a show that has gotten smaller over the years I would think this opportunity to see new places and test new markets would be viable.

    Just my 2 cents.

My two cents - I would prefer to keep the show in the tried and true warmer climates. My favorite locations are Orlando, New Orleans, San Diego, and Vegas. I missed San Antonio but heard it was a great location. I have no interest in returning to Dallas or Atlanta. I'm not fond of attending a show in a northern climate. Chicago in February is brutal and NYC, Seattle, and Denver doesn't sound appealing IMO.

They held it in Toronto once...but only once, for the reasons Clay mentioned

I think they can move any time they want with proper notice to the host cities. I like the current variety but would be open to Phoenix or back to New Orleans or Vegas.

As a northerner I have no interest in going to a cold climate if we do not have to. Walking around in a winter coat and the possibility of snow shutting us down is not appealing to me.

I think the story goes that when we went to Vegas in '98? that we were not welcomed back because we didn't gamble enough. They could use the week to have others in town that would spend more.

When the economy went south we were asked back. Then we again didn't gamble enough so we again aren't welcome to go back.

I like Vegas but contribute to the bad juju because I don't gamble much and can't justify the price of a show ticket.

It also used to be that not every city has the proximity of enough affordable hotels to the convention centers and enough convention center space for our show.

I am posting this on behalf of GCSAA's Jana Brown, CMP, director, conference events & meeting planning:

The Golf Industry Show is confirmed on a 3-year rotation between Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego through 2025. Potential host cities are analyzed, and ultimately selected, based on multiple criteria facets, including dates available, gross square footage, facility functionality, convention center rental/minimum guarantees, hotel rooms/rates, labor rates, shuttle service, weather, attendee/exhibitor survey results and tournament options. GCSAA has contacts at each of the major US cities and stays up-to-date on changes that happen in those cities. We always welcome suggestions from members on potential host cities. Please contact Jana at jbrown@gcsaa.org or 800-472-7878.
