Having signed up on line, will credentials and itinerary be mailed to me?

    Steven, hello.

When you signed-up online, you should have received an email confirmation/receipt. Within the email is a QR code that will assist you when picking up your badge and the rest of your credentials (i.e., seminar information, etc.) in San Diego. There is a link above the QR code that will take you to information on how this works.

If you have further questions and would like to speak to someone, please call Member Services at 800-472-7878 and they can assist you. Please refer to the golfindustryshow.com website for the latest and most up-to-date information leading up to GIS.

Looking forward to seeing you in San Diego!

Thanks, yes I got that but it would be nice to have an actual itinerary of classes being taken prior to going to the convention center and a confirmation that the classes I signed up for are actually available.

    Steven, good afternoon.

The seminars you signed-up for are listed on the lower half of the email receipt; however, I believe you are speaking about the omission of the date, time and room number for each seminar. At this time, the receipt does not automatically accommodate that information. Seminar details are listed on http://www.golfindustryshow.com, and the tickets that you will receive onsite when you print your badge will have all information listed, including the most up-to-date room number for each seminar.

Regarding sold out seminars, the online process will not allow you to register for a sold-out seminar. Each seminar that is sold out will have that verbiage indicated next to it and be very visible. So, the seminars listed and charged on your email receipt are confirmed.

For individuals who may be reading this and wonder what a QR code is, and what does it do, I can explain-- "QR" stands for 'Quick Response' code. It's like a traditional bar code but looks different. It is usually a black square grid on a white background which is read by an imaging device such as a camera or scanner. Each QR code is unique and has data embedded in it. This is how the QR code applies to you and the GIS: To retrieve your GIS badge and all tickets containing information you signed-up for, you will take your receipt to the GIS registration area in San Diego, walk-up to the nearest scanner and place your QR code under the scanner to be read. That process will simply activate the printer and your badge and tickets will be there for you. Its real simple, and the best part about it is its fast! No lines to wait in.

Let me know if you have further questions. You may contact me offline at skoehler@gcsaa.org.

OK, I understand, but I still think that you should be providing us with a hard copy right now of the seminar dates and locations and not making us go through the website and then writing it down. It's important for our scheduling to know well in advance when and where things are and jumping through hoops is not really what we pay for. Not all of us have the luxury of a lot of time when we get to San Diego and it's important to know the itinerary early. So, I will go and print my receipt and then go to the registration website and look up every one of those seminars and write them down. The receipt has the seminar names on it, how much more difficult would it be to put a date and location on it?

    Regards,

    Steve

    Steven,
I understand your point, and it's a good one. One of the issues that occurs prior to the GIS is that for a variety of reasons, there is a need to move a seminar from one room to another, and on occasion, move a seminar from one day to another, or perhaps cancel the seminar altogether. In an effort to avoid a member going to the wrong room, and in some years, the wrong venue (i.e., seminars held in the convention center and a hotel), we do not have those details display on the electronic confirmation letter. Registration opens approximately three months prior to GIS and changes do occur between that time.

New this year in San Antonio, GCSAA began printing this information on the tickets received at registration so as to minimize these issues. The GIS app is also available several weeks prior to GIS that contains the most up-to-date detail information, as well as the GIS website.

Having said all that, again, we understand the desire to have a complete itinerary sooner, rather than later. GCSAA will confer with the software vendor on this to explore potential options.

Stephen, thank you for bringing this up.

Will credentials and class confirmations be mailed out this time or is there a different means of doing all that?

They don't mail them out any longer ( I don't think), you should have gotten a receipt with a QR code that you will take to a booth and print it out there.

Curtis is correct; you can use the QR code or just you name. It will print it out on site.

You probably still pay your bills by check rather than online. So, I'm not very surprised you were waiting for your badge to be mailed!

    It's true, I do.
Apparently, you are also supposed to print out your study guides yourself. For one seminar I'm taking, there are 2 booklets, the first one is well over 200 pages. I guess I'm supposed to kill my little desktop printer over this. I guess I wont be taking these materials to class with me. Not everything new is wonderful.

    Hi Steve,

We are glad you asked about your seminar materials in the Learning Hub. Please note that for each seminar, there are two versions of the materials provided by instructors. The Color Slides version is for those who like to download a full-color resource to their desktop or mobile device. This provides you the photos, charts and graphs with best visibility. The Black and White Printable version (which for your seminar is 43 pages) is a better resource for printing if you'd like to have it in-hand and to take notes. They are both the same material, which attendees may use in different ways.

For each seminar offering e-materials, both versions are provided.

Please let me or the Professional Development team know if you have other concerns. We are here to help and very much looking forward to seeing you in San Antonio.

Thanks for all your help. Even being a Neanderthal, I was able to download the material into my notebook thereby allowing my desktop printer to live another day or so.
