We are redoing our employee recognition program. Currently each department rotates to choses an employee of the week. They receive a gift card and a meal from the menu. However we feel it has lost its value/merit.
We are looking for new and creative ways to not only recognize individual achievement, but also show appreciation to the group as a whole.
    Thanks

Maybe do a team member of the month with a small recognition and put their names in for a drawing at the end of the yr. for a larger award that is of value.

I think the key to employee recognition programs is to make sure the employees feel it is reserved for exceptional employees. If you are doing an employee of the week that's 52 awards a year; starts to feel like you just need to wait your turn. Personally, I think having the employees nominate and management pick an employee of the month or year is the way to go. You could have each department nominate an employee and then highlight why each employee was nominated by their peers and then provide reasons why the eventual winner was picked by management. This way the employees know what kind of behavior is appreciated by both the staff and the leaders.
