I am going to give this another try. Considering I got no responses the last time I tried to get info on this topic, that should tell me how people feel about this topic. This time I will keep it simpler.

1)Do you have a written employee evaluation program? Y or N

2)If yes, how do you implement that program?

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Greg,

Yes, we have a city evaluation that we use, it asks basic questions that don't always fit it to what we are doing or because we have no set standards makes them hard to answer. There are 3 (which I hear is best to have) choices in non-satisfactory, satisfactory or exceptional.

The one I have a hard time with is attendance, It ask if the person's is at work according to department standards.......yet I don't know what department standards are, and I don't think anyone else does either. I am kind of lenient on it, if the guys have time available and want to use it, I let them, as long as they aren't missing on the important days like aeration. Word is they are working on new evaluation forms.

    Greg,

We do annual evaluations of all our employees and 6 month evaluations of new employees when they start. I'm going to try to add an attachment with the form but I'll e-mail it to you if I can't. Hope this help.

We have a program from the City here called " Performance Appraiser". It works ok. You can add a comment if you think needed. We give one after 6 months for new employee's and then 1 annual after that, or as needed.

Yes we use a company standard one which is basically just a tool to tell the guys what they do well and where they need to improve. It's a lot of paperwork that mostly the guys just ask, "where's my raise?"

    Yes

And here is a weird thought it determines the amount of raise. I however give an evaluation in the middle of the season to make sure everybody is on the right track. I just do this for more senior employees but constant feedback is always needed.

I bought a employee evaluation program to speed up the process

Yes. All hourly employees receive a written review/evaluation on their one year anniversary. New salaried employees receive a 6 month and annual review their first year. Staff are reviewed based on exceeds expectations, achieves expectations, needs improvement and unsatisfactory. Their increase is based upon their overall review rating.

Most hourly staff could care less about the review. All they really want to know is how much is their raise. We have staff who think their review is like buying a car and that they can negotiate for a better increase.
