Anyone using the Progressive or Trimax mowers? Just interested in opinions on performance of the mower and also upkeep or maintaining the mower itself?

I've been wondering about the Trmax as well. It seems like a pretty good mower but there are no dealers or reps in our area so I can't see it in action. Most of the videos on their web site are on southern grasses at a low mowing heights. Hard to judge how it really performs. I too would like to hear what those who have one have to say about it...

I've had a Trimax Snake down in central Florida for a little over a year, great machine, very versatile, low maintenance costs.

I got a progressive pro-flex 120 seven and half years ago. For the most part, I'm happy with it. I have replaced a lot of belts, a few spindles and several pulleys on it. My biggest complaint is that it has to be greased daily and there is a lot of grease fittings.

We run two Progressive Tri-Deck mowers. One is 10 years old, the other 8. They are good machines and get the job done. We recently demoed a Trimax. That thing is built like a tank and looks like you'd easily get 20+ years out of it. The Trimax is a bit more money though. But you get what you pay for.

A plus to the Progressive is if you get a in a situation where long grass (or seedheads) are an issue, the Progressive will knock it out whereas the Trimax tends to lay it over without cutting it all in one pass. If this, or money, isn't an issue, I'd go Trimax all the way.

I have used Progressive ProFlex mowers for 30 years. Last year we purchased a Trimax Snake. I must say the Trimax is the best pull behind mower I've ever used. It never clumps no matter how wet the conditions and clippings are dispersed evenly. I was particularly surprised that there is absolutely no scalping and it stripes beautifully. It is much more productive than the ProFlex. We had two and the Trimax has eliminated the need for a second mower. Another benefit is it is super quiet. You pretty much only hear the tractor now. The Progressive is a noisy machine. One of the best purchases we have ever made. Much cheaper to maintain and built to last a long time.
