Our Greens Committee Chair has asked me to provide him criteria for a potential annual performance bonus. Does anyone have anything similar to this that they would be willing to share?

He is looking for things that are non subjective. "Greens were good this year" would not count as this is a matter of opinion. Something like "met or under budget" would work as there is statistical evidence to support this claim. Beyond this, I am having trouble coming up with ideas.

    Thanks,

    Bobby

Written goals and expectations set at the beginning of the year and then evaluated at the end. Staying on or below budget barring natural disasters.
I went through this for years and it always becomes subjective and personality based. I asked for and received a raise of the same percentage that the bonus formerly consisted of. It's way better.

    Regards, Steve

Whatever metrics you use to determine a bonus must be objectively measurable. For example; budgets, employee retention, safety incidences, green speed, continuing education (CEUs and the like), etc. Course conditions are difficult to measure objectively although it can be done IF the definition of "condition" is specifically detailed and constant measurements are performed. Remember that bonuses are targets that should be attainable. Dangling a carrot that is always out of reach is counter productive.
