Wind is nothing new to the Central Plains — it’s more often windy than not. Change, however, can be a bit more elusive. It’s annual meeting season, and one association in the region is experiencing leadership transitions and charting ambitious paths forward.

The Valley, also known as the Mississippi Valley Golf Course Superintendents Association (MVGCSA),  held its annual meeting on November 12, 2025, at Forest Park Golf Course, hosted by Superintendent Chad Carpenter. Forest Park has long been the home for this event, and once again, it didn’t disappoint.

This year marked the end of an era for longtime board member Khris Rickman of Glen Echo Country Club, who stepped down after an impressive 18 years of service on the board, holding every leadership position along the way. In recognition of his commitment and leadership, Khris received the coveted Man of the Year Award, a well-deserved honor for his loyalty, support and guidance. Congratulations, Khris!

The meeting also concluded Rob Kick’s two-year term as president. Rob’s dedication to The Valley was unwavering, and his leadership helped guide the association through growth and change. Here’s wishing him a well-earned, less hectic run as past president.

The newly elected MVGCSA officers and directors are:

  • President: Dan Lloyd – Country Club of St. Albans
  • Vice President: Nick White, CGCS – Bellerive Country Club
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Chad Fetter – Bogey Hills Country Club
  • Director: Matt Czarnecki – Normandie Golf Course
  • Director: Corey Harvey – Gateway National Golf Course

Under the leadership of Executive Director Mike Leech, The Valley has been energized and active. Mike has worked closely with the board to expand programs and events. One of the standout successes was the first annual Wee One event, held earlier this year at Boone Valley Country Club, which raised $39,000 for the Wee One Foundation. In total, the association donated $52,000 to charitable causes in 2025 and awarded seven student scholarships to support future turfgrass professionals.

Keep up the great work, MVGCSA — the winds of change are blowing strong in The Valley!
