I saw a tweet today from Greg Pheneger at Johns Island with a picture of a baby hammerhead shark he found on a fairway..... pretty odd!! It got me to thinking what is the most bizarre thing you have seen on your golf course (something you could share with your children). I first thought about the cobra coiled up with the syringe hose but since that was in South Africa not too bizarre..... Then I remembered the old couple in their Cadillac looking for I-95 while driving on the cart path on my 18th hole. They were only about 7 miles and 9 fairways off course!! Let's hear your stories!!

Based on the parameters you set I basically got nothing. Lol.

I have found dead people on my golf course four times and a lot of crazy stuff, but I don't think I would talk to my kids about it.

I saw a full golf course one time this past summer. Most bizarre...

I'm with Keith on this one. If we could go just outside the realm of human dignity, you'd probably get some pretty good stories.

Like the time while out night watering a raccoon was trying to get busy with an overmatched opossum on the 4th tee.

Just kidding. Never happened, but would have made for a great story.

Well here at the muni of course we have the occaisional dead body and plenty of homeless and raving lunatics. Sticking with your parameters, the funniest thing I've seen this year was a couple of skunks wandering aimlessly around the course with their heads stuck in yoplait yogurt containers.

I call that "Justice". I experienced a similar situation when I was an Assistant at a grow-in in the late 1980's. Except I came across the two guys stuck in the bunker trying to dig their car out. We had to get the loader......
Haven't had any deaths yet. Scott- I'm sure that is a world record!

I think I posted this pic last year. But at least the fertilizer in the hopper stayed dry.

As it would happen, I came across this critter today while digging out a bunker at Long Beach Country Club in Michigan City, IN. I can only imagine a Yeti must have buried the poor fella for later pick'ns.

I did see a few odd things today and wish I had taken pictures. I saw a golfer fixing his ballmark....bizarre!!! Saw another golfer drive his cart up to the "No Carts" sign and miraculously turn and drive straight to the cart path!!! One I can't explain......someone or something filled a divot from the provided divot mix on one of my par 3 tees. I might need to borrow one of those game cameras to figure out how this is happening. Glad it's Friday. That was too much for one week.

Come to think of it, I saw a raccoon running away from the bunker. Weird, Petey. Weird.

I've had the occasional dead body, but only one on the course and one in the club's swimming pool. Lot's of wrecked cars on the course, too many to speak of. A dead deer that was missing it's back half floating in our pond. Only deer I had ever seen on that property. A few bobcats watching us cut cups and mow greens at a couple of different courses. Had a plane practice touch and goes last summer adjacent to one of my golf holes. Electrical conduit used as pipe to repair an irrigation leak. Obviously it didn't hold for too long. And of course I've had a subject, whose name I won't speak of, arrive at my course a day early for a chapter meeting. Also had one member who had Alzheimers want to play 9 holes but couldn't venture too far from home so he played the same hole over and over 9 times. He lived on the hole and his wife could keep an eye on him that way. Hey, at least he was still playing and paying his dues. We encourage that kind of stuff.

But the best one was a confirmed diagnosis of Pink Snow Mold on TifDwarf greens in late September here in Central Florida. Must have been dragged in by the early arriving Canadians that came down for the warmer weather. Never thought I would be looking at the label for PCNB as a rotation in my fungicide program.

Also spotted this Cobra dancing around in our community center during a Chapter meeting. The guest speaker kept this, along with his other pets (Diamondback, Pygmy, Coral) in a duffle bag in our pro shop after the meeting while we were all out playing golf. We never told the Assistant Pro what was in the bag, just told him not to open it.

Please name the speaker Andy so I can avoid any possibility of attending one of his events.
No dead Bodies here but we have resuscitated a few of the near dead
Found a neatly severed sheeps head one morning on 16 fairway placed in such away that it looked like Peter Tork buried up to his neck on the beach.
A return call from a lady of the night on my office phone asking for Jay
My assistant picking up and tasting what appeared to be limestone scattered on 7 green only to later find out it was the cremated remains of Sammy.

about a month ago i witnessed a man with ski poles "skiing" down number 9 fairway at about 6:30am. there was no snow, he had on no skis. just ski poles and doing all the necessary motions. At first I thought he was just hiking maybe..but no, after a closer look i determined he really thought he was skiing. i really wish I had videoed the whole thing.

Ok....today I saw a guy on a ten speed....6am.....helmet, requisite Lycra shorts and Yellow Tour de France shirt... Riding no hands down the paths. Waving his arms in the air like a bird and he had....I'm not kidding.....feathers stuck between his fingers. Where's my phone? Where's my camera? Back on my desk...you've got to be shitting me....

Unfortunately, no pictures. But even more unfortunately, no audio.

So I'm working the pro shop counter one day back in 1980 at a golf course in Berkeley. Within a mile or so of the golf course there's Lake Anza where kids can go swimming, etc.

A couple teenage kids come walking up the path from the parking lot to the pro shop, and it was obvious they weren't golfers, as they had no clubs with them.

They come into the pro shop and this one kid asked me, "Where do the lake where the water be at?"

"What?", I ask, because I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly.

Again he asks, "Where do the lake where the water be at?"

"You must mean Lake Anza, 'cause that's the only lake around here where the water be at," I told him.

    I gave them directions.

This morning I pulled around the tee on #2 heading towards #1 and saw headlights in the fairway. Not thinking anything of it since our crew was out there I assumed it was one of my guys. Nope. One of our members was in #1 fairway hitting his approach shot into the green. It was a little after 6:00 am and the sun wasn't even up yet. Our first tee time on Saturdays is 7:00. I can't wait to tell the DOG about this one....he's gonna need to schedule his rangers to come in an hour earlier now because of one member!

I was thinking the same thing. I couldn't get the water on fast enough. Andy, you slacker.
