I was curious as to how we get credits for the trade show when they did not scan our badges at the door? I was also told in the three classes that I took that I would be required to do a survey on line to get my credits for the classes but I have searched on line and my emails for the forms and could not find them. I did see the credit for the classes on my transcript though. Could someone clear this up for me please. I need to make sure I get my credits. Thanks!

I have to imagine that the sign-in process (where you checked and verified your email prior to entering the room) is going to be used as the "role call". I had a speaker tell me the same thing about the survey - she did stress to check your junk folder, too. As far as waiting, the show ended yesterday and I imagine that there is a lot of data entry that needs to take place (they did use pen and paper, after all). I'd give it a few more days before expecting anything.

    James,

I believe the Education Credits (1.5) for attending the GIS are added to your transcript shortly after the GIS. Unless something has changed you get those credits simply by having registered for the GIS and nothing further is required on your part. If I remember correctly, it may be a few weeks before they actually all show up on your record.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Education points for GIS will be posted within 30 days post-GIS. They are credited to all who purchased a full-package registration, your badge does not need to be scanned.

For conference seminars, evaluations will be emailed to all those who attended a seminar within two weeks post-GIS. Education points for those who did not attend the seminar or do not complete an evaluation would be removed from the transcript.

Wait a couple of weeks and if you still don't see anything please feel free to contact us so we can help you out.

    Sincerely,

    Shelia,

I sent an email to help desk, but I have not received survey's yet for the 3 classes I took at GIS. Could there have been a mix up or have they not been sent out yet. My email address was correct on all of the sign in sheets.

    Thanks

    Good morning Gary,

I believe something more than just simply registering is required, in some cases. I did register and have yet to receive Education Credits for simply registering. Now that I am Class AA Life my registration is free. So, for me anyway, I think more than just simply registering for the GIS, I would simply have to PAY for the credits, I guess.

I paid for and attended a full day seminar on that Monday, and received credits for that.

I attended an industry-sponsored education session on Tuesday. I don't expect credits for that.

I was on the show floor all day Wednesday and all day Thursday. No credit for that. Although, I believe that if I had paid for my registration I would have received Education Credits whether I attended or not.

If someone gets credit for simply registering for GIS it must be because the registration was paid, I believe, anyway, until notified differently.

Pete as you know I am also AA Life. I got the GIS Credits just by registering but it took a while for them to appear.

    Hey Pete and Corey,

It kind of threw me off when you said "paid" registration since I too am a "AA Life Member" and don't actually have to pay for GIS registration. Went back and checked my transcript and I did get the 1.5 Education credits for attending last year as a retired member.

Take care and hope all is well with both of you.

Thanks Corey and Gary. I'll keep my eyes open to see if I get credit.

Why do you old guys need credits - Are you getting back in the field?

I think they just want to see if they can get as many points on their transcripts as you have Capt.

Although this conversation has made me think, although hopefully it will be awhile before I need to know, but as a retired superintendent that is certified, once retired, do you still need to earn the points to stay certified?

    Thanks!

I'm now AA Life, which is different than Retired. I still need to earn points to stay certified. I don't know if that's the case with the retired classification.

You become" CGCS Retired" when you stop CEU points.

    Good afternoon Captain,

Despite being "retired" my plan is to still maintain my CGCS status as long as I can. I'm still active in GCSAA, my local chapter and with our non-profit that works with kids and introduces them to the green industry and the game of golf. Already have almost all my points to re-certify next year which will also give me 25 years as a CGCS. Take care.

    Gary;

I was certified in 1972. If I kept my CGCS I would have reached 45 years this past February. To be truthful, I wish I were able to continue way back when. Keep up the good work.

Look after Corey and Mr. Bowman - don't let them get loose.

    Thanks Captain,

Keeping track of Corey isn't too hard but Mr. Bowman is another story. He always seems to be stirring the pot on something. Perhaps he's affected by living so close to Sacramento? :D

Sacramento? They're just loony tunes. I think I'm more affected by living so close to Ag spray operations. They spray a lot of sulfur and growth regulators right outside my back door. Hundreds of acres of cherries and wine grapes. The cherries make good eating, and the grapes great drinking, so it's worth it.
