This has been a tough holiday season to get thru.  After 5 years working for County, then a mngt company, and now heading to a 2nd mngt company, I was told by the new company that they are not retaining my services for next year and the company I was working for didn't have a place for me to go.  Come to find out, a lot of things were already in the works and set in stone to bring in their own guys, who are local and who I know personally.  I went from feeling safe in my position, to smack in the face.  But I'm taking the high road, I know that I did nothing wrong, this was a corporate decision to have people they are comfortable with. I worked with a poor/outdated irrigation system on all 3 courses for years, worked with a low budget for 54 holes, a crew size of barely a 27 hole facility, no assistants until this year.  I put my blood, sweat, and family time into that place.  And found that I'm a better person for it.  But God has another plan for me, I've got other options in place, have found a multitude of support I didn't think I had.  This is a great industry, and can be harsh at times.  I wish everyone the best of 2020, trust his will and his path for you.  Lean on family and friends when needed, take time for yourself, take mental breaks, trust in your faith.  I raise my glass to you all and hope I can continue in this great industry!

Sorry to hear that but a common happening.  Hope they gave you some severance pay.  I would bet that something better will come along.

John, don't waste your energy being down in the dumps over this.  The stress could take years off your life.   I have been through it twice over the last 20 years and like you, it wasn't because of my job performance.  I haven't been a supt since 2004 when I was 53 years of age.
I'm amazed and thankful for my luck in having great opportunities come along TWICE after losing my supt job.  Since you have several options in place, I hope you're lucky enough to make a good choice and are able to look back on this occurrence as a blessing in disguise.  I know of at least a dozen close supt friends of mine who have been through it and would tell you the same thing.

    John,

Sorry to hear the bad news. I went through same thing (job loss) once before and it wasn't easy. If you already have some irons in the fire, then good for you. I always have some positions open in Tucson Arizona if you ever just want/need a change of scenery or just need to work.

Hang tough and I wish you well in the future...…………………..

    Paul
